Use this GLP-1 consultation checklist to compare a provider's offer before you pay and prepare useful questions for a licensed clinician. It covers the quote, the care team, the medication and the terms that can change your total cost.
Write down the medication, the care included, the first charge, the renewal charge and the cancellation deadline. Keep the quote and the policy date together. A review helps you investigate a service; a clinician determines whether treatment is appropriate.
Before your first GLP-1 consultation
Get the exact product name
Ask whether the offer is for an FDA-approved brand or a compounded preparation, and which formulation is included. Avoid comparing two offers as equivalent when they describe different products. Read our compounded vs. FDA-approved guide.
Identify the clinician and pharmacy
Ask who will assess you, how to check their license in your state, and which pharmacy will fill a prescription. FDA's BeSafeRx checklist explains how to check an online pharmacy, including prescription requirements and state licensing.
Understand the support included
Find out how follow-up visits work, who answers medication questions, what additional appointments cost and what happens if the proposed treatment is unsuitable. Record the service's published response times separately from your expectations.
Know when a charge becomes final
Ask whether payment occurs before the clinical review, what is refunded if you are declined, and whether a consultation fee is retained. Check our refund comparison, then confirm the current policy directly.
Compare the whole quote, not just the monthly label
List care fees, medication, required labs, supplies and shipping as separate lines. Mark each as included, additional, or unknown. Record any introductory discount and its end date. If you plan to use insurance, confirm medication coverage and care fees separately; a provider accepting insurance does not establish your individual coverage.
Plan A charges $200 every calendar month. Twelve payments total $2,400. Plan B charges $200 every 28 days. In a 364-day comparison period, thirteen payments total $2,600. Plan B costs $200 more over that period before any additional fees.
These are illustrative numbers, not provider offers. For actual quotes, use the exact billing dates and initial charge. Our GLP-1 cost calculator helps compare billing intervals.
A prepaid monthly equivalent also needs its upfront total: a hypothetical $150-per-month, six-month package requires $900 at the start. Ask whether unused months can be refunded and whether cancellation changes the rate for medication already supplied.
Questions to take to the prescribing clinician
- Is the proposed treatment appropriate for my medical history and current medicines?
- What alternatives should we discuss, including FDA-approved options?
- What benefits, risks and uncertainties apply to my situation?
- What monitoring or tests would I need, and which are included in the quote?
- Who should I contact about side effects, a missed appointment or a problem with the prescription?
Prepare an accurate medication list and relevant health history for the clinician's secure intake process. This checklist does not determine eligibility or recommend a dose. FDA advises obtaining GLP-1 prescriptions through a doctor and using a state-licensed pharmacy; see its current GLP-1 guidance.
